Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp admits the performance of Dumisani Zuma against Chippa United on Wednesday will give him a selection headache ahead of the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Zuma has not been regular starter for Amakhosi this season but showed his value with a couple of goals in the second half to sink the Chilli Boys at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Chiefs now have the big derby to think about on Saturday and Middendorp said Zuma will have added to his selection dilemma.

Middendorp told Supersport TV after the game against Chippa: “If a player scores two goals coming out of the game, I think it’s not a secret, we coaches around the world we think about ‘hmm, he’s in such a good mood’.

“He can be an option for the Saturday game, there’s no doubt about it.”

The German mentor said he was happy with how his team improved after a “scrappy” opening 20 minutes.

Middendorp continued: “I said it at half-time already, very scrappy first 20 minutes no doubt about it, a good approach from Chippa.

“With a small alignment at the beginning of the second half, yes, so far we had it under control, I had a feeling it was a question of time.”
