Pitso Mosimane has called on South African football supporters to rally behind Bafana Bafana after beginning his second spell as head coach with a 2-1 victory over Guinea.
Mosimane used the strong crowds that have greeted the Springboks as an example of the support he wants to see for the national football team.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Orlando Amstel Arena was not sold out, unlike the Springboks’ recent home matches at Ellis Park, FNB Stadium and Cape Town Stadium.
“You know, I went to rugby last week to see the Bokke against New Zealand,” Mosimane told SABC Sport.
“Come on guys, help us, help Bafana. Come to the stadium guys, let’s get behind the nation. We were trying our best.

“Come South Africa, help us.”
The victory gave Mosimane an encouraging start to his second tenure and put Bafana on three points in their qualifying group.
The coach will now turn his attention to the next challenge, with the squad already having travelled to Egypt ahead of their meeting with Eritrea.
Mosimane will be hoping for another positive result, while his appeal for greater support from the stands continues to underline his desire to build a stronger connection between Bafana and the South African public.
