Following Bafana’s 2-1 AFCON qualifying win over Guinea, Here’s a look at the individual performances.
Ronwen Williams – 7/10
Williams was once again reliable between the sticks and remained alert whenever he was called into action. There were a few nervy moments, but the Bafana captain did well to help his side secure an important victory.
Kamogelo Sebelebele – 6.5/10
The Orlando Pirates right-back had a difficult task dealing with one of Guinea’s key players, Aliou Balde. The winger had some good moments, but Sebelebele eventually managed to keep him under control and limited his influence.
Ime Okon – 7.5/10
Despite scoring Bafana’s opening goal, Okon’s overall performance was equally impressive. He had the difficult task of dealing with dangerous Guinea forward Serhou Guirassy and stood up well to the challenge. His defensive positioning and composure helped Bafana keep the striker from making a decisive impact.
Olwethu Makhanya – 7/10
Makhanya formed a solid partnership with Okon at the heart of the defence. The pair did well to keep Guirassy away from dangerous areas, while Makhanya also showed composure when bringing the ball out from the back.
Aubrey Modiba – 5/10
The Mamelodi Sundowns left-back struggled to produce his usual level of performance. He did manage to get some crosses into the box, but his evening was cut short just before the hour mark after picking up an injury.
Sphephelo Sithole – 6.5/10
Sithole provided balance in midfield and helped Bafana maintain their shape. He worked hard to win possession and was involved in several important defensive challenges as he linked the defence with the attack.
Teboho Mokoena – 7.5/10
Mokoena was eager to get on the scoresheet and put in another energetic performance. His long-range efforts did not find the back of the net, but he remained influential in midfield and consistently supported the attack when Bafana pushed forward.
Thapelo Maseko – 6.5/10
The newly signed FC Copenhagen winger caused problems for Guinea with his pace and skill. However, he struggled to make the most of his opportunities in the final third. He had a good chance inside the box, but his effort went across the face of goal.
Relebohile Mofokeng – 7/10
Mofokeng had an early opportunity to put Bafana ahead, but his effort was saved. He remained a constant threat throughout the match and was heavily involved in Bafana’s attacking play, forcing Guinea defenders to keep a close eye on him.
Oswin Appollis – 7.5/10
The Orlando Pirates winger was a constant threat with his quick feet and silky touches. He proved difficult for the Guinea defence to handle and created several promising opportunities for Bafana with his movement and attacking intent.
Iqraam Rayners – 5/10
Rayners did not get many clear opportunities in front of goal, but his work rate remained evident. He continually put pressure on the Guinea defence and made life uncomfortable for the visitors before being substituted in the second half.
Substitutes
Samukelo Kabini – 7/10
Kabini made an immediate impact after coming off the bench, scoring Bafana’s winning goal. His fresh legs gave the team an added attacking threat, while he also worked hard defensively to make things difficult for Guinea down the right side.

Yanela Mbuthuma – 6/10
Mbuthuma made a positive contribution after coming off the bench, providing the assist for Kabini’s winning goal. He also had an opportunity to get on the scoresheet himself but was unable to make the most of it.
