Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United are reportedly locked in negotiations over striker Zakhele Lepasa ahead of the transfer window deadline on Friday.
Lepasa, yet to feature for Pirates this season, had been left out of both their MTN8 Cup and CAF Champions League squads since August.
In Pirates’ recent Champions League win over Jwaneng Galaxy, head coach Jose Riveiro opted to field young forward Boitumelo Radiopane, while relying on Tshegofatso Mabasa and Evidence Makgopa to lead the attack.
Lepasa, meanwhile, found himself watching from the stands.
The 27-year-old striker had a successful loan spell with SuperSport United last season, netting nine goals in all competitions.
However, after being recalled to Pirates, he struggled to maintain form, becoming a peripheral figure at the club despite a strong start to the campaign.
According to sources close to Pirates, Lepasa had set his sights on rejoining SuperSport. “Zakhele Lepasa has already made up his mind about joining SuperSport United.
“The two clubs are expected to finalise the deal before the end of this week,” said a KickOff insider.
Pirates are also busy finalising their remaining transfer business, with several players expected to leave before Friday’s deadline, either on permanent deals or loan spells.
