Amakhosi revealed their new signing on Wednesday, with the 27-year-old joining the club as a free agent after having parted ways with Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Head coach Da Cruz has praised the quality and experience of his new acquisition but also stressed that he does not expect the attacker to play immediately.

“Elias Mokwana is a very good plater, an experienced player with international experience, he has a lot of quality,” said the Frenchman to reporters.

“With no pre-season? Will be tough [to break into the side] but in the upcoming FIFA break it will be the time to integrate him into the team, step by step.”

Mokwana previously starred for Betway Premiership outfit Sekhukhune United, scoring six goals while providing seven assists in 65 appearances while also making 11 appearances [with two goals and two assists] for Bafana Bafana.

However, the tricky winger has not played a match since May during his loan to Saudi Pro League side Al Hazem SC and will need to work hard during the international break in order to improve his fitness for duty.

The tricky forward will be expected to watch Sunday’s Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final against Siwelele FC from the stands.
