There’s been a recent development regarding Kgaogelo Sekgota‘s future club. While official confirmation is still awaited, things are heating up!
The 27-year-old South African winger, finds himself in an interesting position. While there haven’t been any official announcements of a new club as of July 12, 2024, recent developments suggest a potential landing spot.
Reports suggest Sekgota might be joining Magesi FC, the newly promoted DStv Premiership team. Earlier training stints with his former club Moroka Swallows seem to have fallen through due to their status sale.
This move could be a turning point for both the player and the newly promoted club. Here are 5 reasons why the move works:
1) Free agent – Sekgota is available on a free transfer, making him a financially attractive prospect.
2) Homecoming – Magesi FC plays in Limpopo, which is where Sekgota was born and raised, having come through the ranks of Polokwane City.
3) Career revival – Sekgota gets a chance to revive his career, with a starting role. He went on to represent Swallows, Chiefs and Stellenbosch over the last four seasons but failed to secure a starting place at each club. This is a great chance for him to showcase his talent in the top league of South African football.
4) International experience – He brings experience from previous spells abroad, having played for Stumbras (Lithuania) and Vitória Setúbal (Portugal) before he signed for the now defunct Bidvest Wits.
5) Attacking cohort – Magesi gains a talented player in Sekgota who could line up alongside Delano Abrahams and Tshepo Kakora, recent signings from AmaTuks and La Masia respectively.
