TS Galaxy’s Sead Ramovic praises Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker

In a clash at Moses Mabhida Stadium, TS Galaxy triumphed 3-2 over AmaZulu FC in the Carling Knockout semifinals, securing their spot in the highly anticipated final against Stellenbosch FC on December 16.

The clash promises to be a tactical battle, with coach Sead Ramovic setting his sights on a league triumph in the future.

After the thrilling victory against AmaZulu, where Lehlohonolo Mojela, Higor Vidal, and Samir Nurkovic found the net, Ramovic expressed his aspirations beyond cup success. “Every day I try my best…hopefully one day we can make progress and win the league,” he revealed, emphasizing the importance of focusing on their immediate challenge against Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.

Reflecting on their journey to the cup final, Ramovic acknowledged the team’s resilience, having defeated formidable opponents like Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United. “We deserve to be in the final,” he asserted, highlighting the upcoming clash with Stellenbosch, a team he has yet to conquer. Praiseworthy of his counterpart, Ramovic showered accolades on Stellenbosch’s head coach, Steve Barker.

“Steve Barker, a fantastic coach who’s been in this business for a long time,” Ramovic acknowledged. Barker, the longest-serving coach in the PSL since July 2017, has consistently steered Stellenbosch to commendable performances each season, earning him the recognition as one of the best coaches in the league.

In acknowledging his coaching prowess, Ramovic also commended his own qualifications, holding a UEFA Pro Licence. Managing a modest squad of 23 players, the German attributed the team’s fitness to meticulous periodization. “Our players hardly get muscle injuries, so that talks to great periodisation,” he explained. Drawing from seven years of hard work and education, including playing in the Bundesliga, Ramovic highlighted the distinction between playing and coaching, underscoring the importance of earning the highest coaching license globally.

As the final showdown with Stellenbosch looms, Ramovic’s dual focus on immediate success and long-term aspirations add an intriguing layer to TS Galaxy’s quest for glory. The clash promises not only a battle on the field but also a strategic duel between two seasoned coaches, amplifying the anticipation for a riveting encounter on December 16.
