TEBOHO MOKOENA UNLIKELY TO LEAVE DSTV PREMIERSHIP LEADERS SUNDOWNS

Teboho Mokoena looks set to remain with Mamelodi Sundowns despite “lots of interest” in the player following an impressive Africa Cup of Nations.

The 27-year-old was excellent for South Africa as they reached the semi-finals, while ultimately ending with a medal in third place.

Mokoena was on target with a superb free-kick in the last 16 defeat of Morocco.

He also scored one of the winning penalties as Bafana defeated Cape Verde 2-1 in a shootout in the quarter-finals, and was again on target from the spot with an equaliser to send the game to extra-time.

Mokoena was unfortunately not able to beat Nigeria stopper Nwabali in the semi-final shootout defeat.

A number of clubs have reportedly registered their interest in the former SuperSport United player, who is contracted to Downs until 2026.

Mokoena’s agent Glyn Binkin told iDiski Times: “There has been lots of interest in Teboho, but he remains under contract to Sundowns until June 2026 and any club interested in Mokoena would have to engage with Sundowns in this regard.”
