SuperSport United look to bounce back at home to Royal AM

SuperSport United will move up to second on the DStv Premiership with a win at home to Royal AM on Thursday.

Matsatsantsa have registered five wins from their opening eight league games while Thwihli Thwahla are down in 14th with just two victories.

Gavin Hunt’s side, however, come into this game on the back of a shock 4-1 reverse to Polokwane City in the Carling Knockout Cup.

But that result came on the back of a busy period of football for the club, that saw SuperSport qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Royal AM, meanwhile, started their season poorly, and after recording two successive wins over TS Galaxy and Chippa United, and holding Kaizer Chiefs to a goalleess draw, the team have lost their last two, to sit just two points clear of the relegation places.

Following his side’s cup exit, Hunt said inthe Citizen: “We had a lot of chances but every time they broke out they scored. So we didn’t defend well enough. We have to defend better and we didn’t.

“Collectively, we weren’t good enough and there are lot of things that we need to get right.”

Royal AM boss John Maduka is remaining optimistic though, following some recent improved performances.

He recently said on iDiski Times: “We are getting better and better.

“Yes we struggled a lot last season as we were not winning more games away from home.

“This is a very good sign for us and we need to just continue doing that. We know for us to win away from home we have to work hard just like we did. So this gives confidence going forward.”
