SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt open to Zakhele Lepasa return

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt admits he would welcome the signing of Zakhele Lepasa but doesn’t know if it is possible.

The 27-year-old Orlando Pirates striker spent part of the 2022/23 season on loan at Matsatsantsa.

Lepasa played 10 times for Hunt’s side, scoring two goals.

Last term though the player returned to Bucs and featured 23 times in all competitions, with 10 goals.

He is expected to see limited game-time with Pirates during the current campaign and may look for a loan deal before the transfer window closes.

Hunt though admits thast while he would welcome Lepasa’s return, he doesn’t have the final say on signings.

He said in the Sowetan: “At the moment yes obviously [we would consider signing Lepasa], but as I say, I can’t do the deals, maybe the days of that getting the old manager like we used to have in the old days, where we did the deals.

“I never done a deal [here] so it’s gotta get done there [in the boardroom] you know. Boss, must I give you my list of players [I want], we will win the league by 30 points. Then you gotta have a budget of R300m.

“People can say ah this club has great scouting, but you obviously scouting for where you can pay, that’s why I say journalism needs to improve along those lines, you need to get your bees in a row, in the world, salaries get mentioned, you need to maybe look at that a bit more.

“You know where I am going with this, expectations, realistically, it’s always difficult, we work with in our constraints, produced young players, that’s what we do.”
