SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews says the club will only consider pursuing a deal for Jeremy Brockie next season.
The 32-year-old striker is currently clubless after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns.
He spent the season on loan with Maritzburg after struggling to impose himself at the Brazilians.
It was thought that SuperSport would welcome Brockie back to the club with open arms, but Matthews says they are in no position to currently make any signings.
Matthews told Daily Sun: “As for Brockie, we are not in a position to commit to him or any other player at this stage.
“We will re-assess our position towards the middle of August when the season has been concluded.”
SuperSport have, however, extended loan deals for Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Athenkosi Dlala, who are currently with the University of Pretoria, and Kagiso Malinga, who is at Swallows FC.
Matthews added: “We decided to extend the players’ stay at the two clubs until the end of the season.”
