Steve Barker Confirms Antonio Van Wyk’s Austrian Move

Stellenbosch FC Coach Steve Barker has confirmed the news of Antonio Van Wyk moving to Austrian club SV Ried.

The news was first reported by SABC Sport’s Mazola Molefe this morning citing that the player is set to travel to Europe to undergo medical and then seal the deal.

Speaking at the MTN8 press conference in Durban, Steve Barker said,

“Antonio Van Wyk’s move will be finalized soon”.

Van Wyk’s move overseas follows in the footsteps of former teammate Deano van Rooyen who was recently signed by Orlando Pirates and Iqraam Rayners whose exit was recently confirmed by the Cape Winelands side that the striker has joined Mamelodi Sundowns

While the exact timing of Van Wyk’s departure remains uncertain, it’s unlikely he’ll feature in Stellenbosch’s upcoming match against Sundowns in Pretoria.

The 22-year-old speedster, who made his first-team debut in the 2020/21 season, played a key role in Stellenbosch’s Carling Knockout Cup triumph.
