Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe says it is time for the club to “pull up their socks” to secure a top-eight finish in the league this season.
Amakhosi’s struggles are well documented and plans are already in place to restructure their coaching staff for the upcoming campaign.
Under Cavin Johnson, Chiefs bowed out of the Carling Knockout Cup in the first round, 1-0 to AmaZulu.
They also went out in the first round of the Nedbank Cup, on penalties to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford, and currently sit in eighth place on the league standings.
They most recently went down 2-0 to Chippa United and are next in action against struggling Richards Bay on Sunday.
Sithebe told the club’s website: “Obviously we are concerned. Especially when we look at some of the games where we made a lot of opportunities but the ball just wasn’t going into the net.
“As players, we need to pull up our socks and keep working as hard as we can in the remaining games.
“We want to first secure our place in the top eight, but we want more than that. We still want to qualify for a CAF competition next season.”
