Rushwin Dortley ready to handle Kaizer Chiefs’ pressure

Rushwin Dortley knows expectations will be high after signing for Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

The 22-year-old centre-back joined Amakhosi ahead of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

He was snapped up after his impressive displays for Cape Town Spurs last term, despite their relegation from the South African top-flight.

Chiefs are rebuilding under new coach Nasreddine Nabi after their worst ever campaign that saw the club end in 10th place, under previous incumbent Cavin Johnson.

Dortley told iDiski Times that he is strong enough to handle the demands of playing for such a big team.

“Look, Chiefs is one of the biggest clubs in the country, he explained.

“And they have a lot of supporters and there’s going to be pressure and it’s part of football. That will at the end of the day help you to improve your game. And it’s going to be tough, but you have to be mentally strong. And I think I can handle it.

“For me, my message to Kaizer Chiefs fans is that I will come there and do my best!

“I’ll do my best to deliver at the back, to keep goals out. And going forward to contribute, going forward to scoring goals in set-pieces. But mainly that they will know that there is someone at the back that will work and that will do his best!”
