RULANI MOKWENA NOT ENTERTAINING JAYDEN ADAMS RUMOURS

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has chosen to remain tight-lipped regarding the club’s rumoured interest in Stellenbosch FC midfielder Jayden Adams.

Despite heavy speculation linking Adams to Sundowns following the team’s return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, Mokwena clarified that no formal deal has been made.

“Sundowns have inquired about Adams, but nothing has been agreed upon,” Mokwena stated, addressing the media’s curiosity.

When asked directly about the club’s interest in Adams, Mokwena emphasized the systematic approach Sundowns employs in their transfer policy. “At the moment, the answer is no,” Mokwena confirmed. “I haven’t submitted a report yet. The process begins with summarizing the squad’s performances, then presenting a detailed report to senior management and the sporting director.

“It’s hard to give a definite yes or no without concluding my technical report with my team.”

A follow-up question probed whether Mokwena had already identified potential signings for the upcoming season. He responded candidly, “I have thought about it, but I haven’t put it into paper and submitted it. Our club operates differently; the coach must complete the season before moving forward.

“We now have a sporting director who handles transfers based on recommendations from the coach and the technical team. That’s our process.”

This measured approach underscores Sundowns’ methodical transfer strategy, emphasizing thorough evaluation and internal consultation before making any moves in the market.

While fans and pundits speculate about potential new signings, Mokwena’s comments highlight the club’s commitment to a structured and deliberate decision-making process.

Sundowns’ interest in Adams, 23, reflects their ongoing quest to bolster their squad with top talent, yet it remains clear that any transfer activity will follow a careful and considered pathway.

As Mokwena wraps up his technical assessment of the current squad, Sundowns supporters will have to wait a bit longer to see which new faces might join the team for the next campaign.
