Rulani Mokwena says he is a “a huge Bongani Zungu fan” as he tries to lure the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder to Wydad Casablanca.
The 31-year-old is a free-agent after leaving the Brazilians at the end of last season.
He counts Vitoria Guimarães, Amiens and Rangers as former teams and is also a former Bafana Bafana international with 29 caps and five goals.
Mokwena is preparing his side for the upcoming Botola Pro 1 season and feels Zungu would be a welcome addition.
The Wydad boss said in the Citizen: “At the moment it is a huge possibility (that he comes).
“I am a huge Bongani Zungu fan. He is an irresistible human being, we just have to see.
“It is a bit more complicated than people think but it is something I can say we are considering big time.”
Mokwena is also reportedly keen on signing Al Ahly striker Percy Tau, but would not comment on those rumours, with the player still contracted to his club.
“Most of the focus for the next few days and weeks will be on trying to strengthen the offensive line within the team,” concluded the former Downs head coach.
