Richards Bay FC Gearing Up for the 2024/25 Season with Phakwe Gas for Africa 

Richards Bay FC is wasting no time in preparing for the upcoming 2024/25 season. The team recently received a morale boost with a visit from their Chairman, Mr. Biyela, on July 8th, 2024, at their training ground. Furthermore, the club is strengthening its squad with key signings, contract extensions, and a massive financial injection.

Financial Backing Secured

The club is also showing positive strides off the field. On July 10th, 2024, , they announced a new sponsorship deal with Phakwe Gas for Africa to the tune of R60 million at a press conference held at Waterfront Tuzigazi in Richards Bay.

The partnership will see Richards Bay receive a minimum of R20 million a season, for each of the next three seasons, which will provide the team with valuable resources for the upcoming season. The deal includes an option to extend for a further two seasons. 

New Recruits

The club has bolstered its defense with center-back Keegan Allan, Fezile Gcaba and goalkeeper Ian Otieno. The midfield department has been reinforced with Tlakusani Mthethwa and former Kaizer Chiefs man Siyethemba Sithebe. Former Sundowns hitman Thabiso Kutumela  was also unveiled at the gathering.

Contract Extensions

Salim Magoola: The Ugandan shot-stopper secured his future with the club by signing a 3-year contract extension.
Lwandile Mabuya: The talented 24-year-old  has been offered a 2-year deal.

Looking back at the previous season, Richards Bay FC successfully secured their place in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) by defeating Baroka FC 4-0 in a home game during the PSL Play-Off tie. With a motivated team, strong leadership, and a strategic sponsorship deal, they are poised to make a mark in the PSL this time around!
