The Premier Soccer League announced the nomination for this season’s awards for all PSL competitions this morning following an exciting season which saw Mamelodi Sundowns clinch their seventh league title in succession.
The nominations were met with mixed emotions including the omission of Orlando Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi in the Footballer of the Season category with the football association opting for Teboho Mokoena, Iqraam Rayners and Ronwen Williams.
Maswanganyi has had an impressive season in his first stint at Orlando Pirates which has seen him receiving the highest number of Man of the Match awards. He has played 38 games in all competitions, netting 9 goals and providing 12 assists for the Buccaneers.
Despite missing out on the Footballer of the Season nomination, the former SuperSport United player received four other nominations including DStv Premiership Player’s Player of the Season, Midfielder of the Season, Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament and MTN 8 Last Man Standing.
