Orlando Pirates capped a remarkable PSL campaign by sweeping the major honours at the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League Awards, underlining the dominance that delivered a domestic treble last season.
Having lifted the Premiership, MTN8 and Carling Knockout trophies, Pirates carried that momentum into the annual awards ceremony, collecting almost every major accolade on offer.
Relebohile Mofokeng emerged as the biggest winner of the evening. The 21-year-old, who has since completed a move to Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, was named Footballer of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season after another outstanding campaign.
Pirates’ success extended across the individual categories. Abdeslam Ouaddou was recognised as Coach of the Season, while the club also claimed the awards for Midfielder of the Season, Defender of the Season, Goalkeeper of the Season and Goal of the Season.
The only major individual honour to elude the Soweto club was the Golden Boot. That went to Golden Arrows striker Sede Junior Dion, whose 14 league goals saw him finish as the Premiership’s leading scorer.
The Footballer of the Season award had featured a strong shortlist that included Mofokeng, Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena, but it was the Pirates playmaker who ultimately earned the highest individual recognition.
The evening also paused to remember the late Jayden Adams. The Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder was posthumously honoured with the PSL Chairman’s Award, presented by league chairman Dr Irvin Khoza in a moving tribute.
