Marcelo Allende insists his future can wait as he enters the final year of his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns, with the Chilean midfielder determined to concentrate on defending the club’s domestic and continental honours.

Allende’s current agreement is due to expire at the end of the season, although it remains unclear whether Sundowns hold an option to extend it. That uncertainty has prompted speculation over his next move, but the 27-year-old says he has no plans to allow the issue to distract him.

“I am 100% focused on my last year at the club,” Allende said. “I haven’t spoken with anyone but I’m really focused.”

The midfielder joined Sundowns from Montevideo City Torque and is now preparing for his fourth season at Chloorkop. He has become an important senior figure within a squad seeking to maintain its dominance in South African football while competing for honours on the continent.

Allende also stressed that his commitment extends beyond his own involvement, insisting he will continue to contribute whether selected or supporting his teammates from the bench.

“When I play, I will always give 100% and if not, I will also support my teammates because the most important thing is the results and to bring good things to the club,” he said.

Sundowns return to Premiership action on Wednesday when they face Marumo Gallants at Loftus Versfeld. Miguel Cardoso’s side will be seeking a response after being held to a 1-1 draw by Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium.

Gallants arrive in Pretoria after a 3-1 defeat by Stellenbosch.

Allende believes Sundowns have made a positive start, with two victories and a draw from their opening three league matches.

“We’re doing well at training and we’re ready for the next one,” he said. “We’re united and ready for the next one.”

For now, Allende’s message is straightforward: performances on the pitch matter more than speculation about what comes after the final year of his contract.
