Polokwane City coach Lehlohonolo Seema says Carling Knockout Cup is up for grabs

Polokwane City coach Lehlohonolo Seema is excited by the opportunity to potentially claim some silverware this season.

Rise and Shine find themselves in the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup where they will face Stellenbosch.

Seema’s charges shocked SuperSport United with an impressive 4-1 win in their first round clash.

A number of other so-called ‘big’ DStv Premiership team have already been eliminated, including Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

This present’s City with a unique chance to go all the way in the competition, explained the head coach.

He said in the Sowetan: “It’s always nice for the teams that are so-called small to remain in these competitions. Most of the time you find that these competitions become one-sided and they become boring.

“These matches [the quarterfinals] are going to be nice but we are not looking at any team and saying ‘yeah, this one is going to be easier than others’. All of them [the remaining eight teams] are tough.”

Seema added: “The good thing is we will be playing at home but Stellenbosch are a very difficult team, so we are expecting a very difficult game.”

Quarter-final fixtures:
