This is a cup competition for teams who finished in the top eight position on the log standings in the Premier Soccer League. This prestigious competition’s history dates back to 1972 when it was first won by Orlando Pirates, it had been previously known as the BP Top 8 from 1972 to 2002, from 2003 to 2007 it changed to SAA Supa 8 and then it was changed to its current name in 2008.

The Format

1st-place team v 8th-placed team
2nd-placed team v 7th-placed team
3rd-placed team v 6th-placed team
4th-placed team v 5th-placed team

The winners of the quarterfinals then square off in two-legged semifinal matches which are played home and away for both teams and then the remaining two teams face off in a one-legged final to determine the winner of the competition.
