Kavazovic came into to replace the Belgian following a successful spell in charge of Botswana’s Township Rollers.

Nonetheless, it appears the Serbian was not pleased with the state he found the side when he took over, and he added that it has taken a long time to fix the situation.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “Even though I’m trying to improve this club, players individually, it’s not easy because I found a dirty, rubbish side which was left by the former coach, players are struggling mentally.

“You know who made this mess, I had to clean that mess first then compete. To be honest right now we can’t threaten anyone, it’s a reality, the only positive result we can get now is avoiding automatic relegation.

“If you look at Eric Tinkler at Maritzburg United, he had a similar situation. He found a team in a mess but fortunately for him things changed quickly, they are now three points behind us and play good football.”

Stars are currently in 13th place in the Premiership standings but have two very tough remaining matches against both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

On Saturday afternoon at 15:00 they face Amakhosi at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
