KAIZER MOTAUNG JR SPEAKS ON SIGNING GASTON SIRINO

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has explained the rationale behind signing former Mamelodi Sundowns star Gaston Sirino.

The midfielder became AmaKhosi’s fourth signing in a swift deal announced over the weekend.

The 33-year-old Uruguayan has joined Chiefs on a two-year contract after being released by Sundowns.

Despite questions about his age, Motaung Jr highlighted Sirino’s wealth of experience as a key factor. “We decided to add some experience to our team by bringing in Sirino,” Motaung Jr stated.

“We know his quality and believe he will help us this coming season. We’re looking forward to him sharing his experience with our younger players.”

Sirino’s technical skills and ability to break down defences was also crucial in Chiefs’ decision.

“Gaston’s ability to unlock a tight defence with his guile and craft will add an extra dimension to the team’s creativity.

“His attributes fit with our idea of how we want to play,” Motaung Jr added.

The signing comes as Chiefs prepare for a friendly match against Botswana’s Township Rollers, with their Betway Premiership campaign set to commence in mid-September.
