While the club are yet to make official announcements, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe took to Instagram to confirm his exit.
“I’m giving thanks to the Khosi nation for the time I got playing for them, my hands are above my head. Wish you the best season and in future.” he said.

During his most recent topflight campaign, Sithebe started just ten league fixtures for Amakhosi in the DStv Premiership. It goes without a surprise that his at Kaizer Chiefs was a short and relatively uneventful chapter. Here’s a breakdown:
Arrival and Expectations (July 2022)
- Sithebe joined Chiefs on a free transfer from AmaZulu in 2022, hoping to reignite his career at a bigger club.
- He was seen as a potential solution to bolster the midfield, bringing experience and defensive solidity.
Limited Impact and Injuries (2022-2023)
- Unfortunately, Sithebe’s time at Chiefs was plagued by injuries. He only managed a handful of appearances throughout the season.
- When he did play, his performances weren’t particularly impressive, and some even questioned his overall impact on the team.
Release and Unclear Future (June 2024)
- Similar to Ngcobo and Dolly, Sithebe’s contract expired in June 2024, and Chiefs decided not to renew it.
- As of now, there’s no official news on his next move.
Possible Reasons for Release
- Lack of Playing Time Due to Injuries: Injuries severely limited Sithebe’s ability to showcase his skills and convince the club of his value.
- Unimpressive Performances: When he did play, his contributions weren’t significant enough to warrant a contract extension, especially with the team undergoing a rebuild.
Overall
Sithebe’s stint at Chiefs was forgettable. Injuries and underwhelming performances when healthy meant he couldn’t establish himself in the team. He’ll now be looking for a new club where he can get more playing time and hopefully rediscover his form.
