Kaizer Motaung Jr, Sporting Director of Kaizer Chiefs, has confirmed the club’s interest in Polokwane City‘s winger, Oswin Appollis.
The 23-year-old Bafana Bafana star has been linked with a move to North Africa, but with that deal facing complications, Polokwane City is now open to selling him domestically. Speaking to Robert Marawa on Radio 947, Kaizer Jr said,
Of course he’s a top player. But we very rarely speak about players from other teams,”
“The chairman of Polokwane City is our colleague, sometimes when we talk about players of other clubs it could cause unwarranted instability at the club and in the player’s mind.
“What I can say about Appollis is I don’t know any club in the country who wouldn’t want to sign Oswin. We know we need to get the best talent to achieve our goals. He’s a top player and we’re working tirelessly to bring top players to the club.
“We’d love to have him, we’ve had talks with the chairman of Polokwane City, not only about Oswin, other players also. It’s a process that’s ongoing.
“I understand when coaches get frustrated if clubs mentioning their players in the media, we respectfully don’t do that but it doesn’t mean we’re not working as hard as we can on bringing these top talents.”
Appollis’ recent impressive performances against Uganda and South Sudan (where he netted a brace) has further cemented his reputation as a rising talent. As the PSL transfer window nears its close on September 20, Chiefs are racing against time to secure his signature.
While Chiefs will face competition for Appollis’ services, Motaung Jr’s statement indicates their determination to bring him to Naturena.
