Kaizer Chiefs confirm Arthur Zwane exit

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of their youth coach, Arthur Zwane, who was shockingly announced as the new co-head coach of AmaZulu FC along with Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

The announcement came after the Durban-based club parted ways with Pablo Franco Martin and his assistant Aito Van Den Brule after a poor start to the 2024/25 season.

Zwane had a decade-long career with Amakhosi as a player, he joined them in 2000 and lifted 12 trophies in his 252 appearances across all competitions with the club before hanging up his boots in 2010.

He then transitioned to coaching and served as the assistant coach to Vladimir Vermezovic, before being deployed to the club’s youth structures.

Zwane, affectionately known as 10111, returned to the senior team as Gavin Hunt’s assistant, who was later replaced by Stuart Baxter. In June 2022, he was appointed as the head coach of the Soweto giants before returning to his assistant coaching position under Molefi Ntseki in June 2023.

Speaking to the club’s website, Zwane expressed words of gratitude to the chairman of the club Kaizer Motaung for his love and support throughout his career.

“I would definitely like to extend my deepest gratitude to Dr. Motaung for the unwavering support, guidance and love throughout my Chiefs career as a player and a coach. His belief in me has allowed me to grow from a player to a development coach and ultimately to the head coach.

I am truly thankful for the opportunities the Club has provided which have shaped not just my career but my life. So, thank you to Kaizer Chiefs and thank you to the Chairman,” Zwane concluded.

The pair will begin their tenure by hosting Stellenbosch FC in the opening round of the Carling Knockout Cup on the weekend of 19-20 October. The defending champions are currently wounded following their painful loss to Orlando Pirates in the final of the MTN8 Cup.

Usuthu will then visit Orlando Pirates for their Betway Premiership clash on Friday 25 October.
