Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi knows his side faces a tough challenge to make it two wins from their opening two Betway Premiership games of the season.
Amakhosi kicked off their 2024/25 campaign with a 2-1 win away to Marumo Gallants, with Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi both on target to cancel out a Sekela Sithole opener.
They next face an AmaZulu side at the Free State Stadium on Wednesday that started their season with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Polokwane City.
With their last game already two weeks ago, Nabi is wary of his players’ sharpness.
He said in the Citizen: “The turnaround times between matches can present challenges. If you have more than one week’s rest between games you can lose something.
“But our fitness coaches have been working hard to get the players in the best possible shape to perform at a high level.
“Our preparation has been good. We have watched the previous game of our opponents, AmaZulu, and analysed the strengths of the team and some areas where we believe they have weaknesses that we can exploit.”
Nabi knows Usuthu coach Pablo Franco Martin well from their time facing each other in Tanzania when the Chiefs boss was head of Young Africans and Martin was with Simba FC.
“I know him, he is my friend and in Tanzania he was one of the best coaches. He is someone whose ability I respect, so we will se how it turns out. I hope everyone will enjoy the contest,” added Nabi.
