Three Hollywoodbets Super League matches are set to take centre stage on Wednesday afternoon as Coal City Wizards travel to Pretoria to lock horns with high-flying TUT Ladies, while UWC Ladies aim to pile further misery on a wounded UJ Ladies team. Fireworks are expected at the King Zwelithini Stadium when JVW FC & Durban Ladies meet in the East Coast of Mzansi.
Wednesday 17 November
TUT Ladies 1/5
Draw 9/2
Coal City Wizards 8/1
(15:00)
TUT Ladies will be aiming to reach the 50-point mark when Coal City Wizards make the trip to Pretoria. Coach Simphiwe Dludlu’s troops come into the clash off last Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Ma-Indies Ladies thanks to Salome Kekana and Nontando Vilakazi finding the net in Limpopo, which has extended their winning streak to five straight matches.
The hosts are understandably short-priced to get the job done after beating Ma’Wizards 3-0 during the reverse tie in Witbank with Tiisetso Makhubela, Nomhle Sangweni and Tshwarelo Mpuru’s three goals earning all three points.
Meanwhile, Coal City Wizards snapped a seven-match winless streak by beating First Touch FC 3-0 in Polokwane. Khensani Baloyi, Mdledle Patistuta and Nelisiwe Mchunu registered on the scoresheet last weekend and will be hoping to build momentum.
TUT Ladies will prove too strong to Ma’Wizards and make home advantage count.
UJ Ladies 47/10
Draw 5/2
UWC Ladies 5/10
(15:00)
UJ Ladies were put to the sword by JVW FC last Saturday in a humiliating defeat, stretching their winless run to five matches, however, the Orange Army haven’t had the easiest fixture schedule.
Mamelodi Sundowns, TUT Ladies and JVW FC will give any Hollywoodbets Super League team a run for their money and unfortunately for UJ Ladies, another one of the ‘big guns’ come to town in the form of coach Thinasonke Mbuli’s UWC Ladies.
The Bushies are in fine form after collecting maximum points in back-to-back games on the road, away at Coal City Wizards (1-0) and Golden Ladies (3-0).
Last time out goalkeeper Lindokuhle Duntsu kept a clean sheet on debut in the North West, while Sibulele Holweni scored twice – once from the penalty spot – and Abongile Dlani came to the party to give UWC Ladies a 3-0 cushion after 45 minutes.
Molatelo ‘Nemo’ Kobo was fouled in the penalty area and Holweni scored the deciding goal of the game when these teams met six months ago in Cape Town. My money is on UWC Ladies to reign supreme in Gauteng.
Durban Ladies 11/2
Draw 33/10
JVW FC 7/20
(15:00)
Durban Ladies entertain JVW FC at the King Zwelithini Stadium in search of maximum points after sharing the spoils with Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies and Golden Ladies in their last two matches.
JVW FC make the trip to the East Coast of South Africa after hitting UJ Ladies for six of the best. The Blue Diamonds convincingly beat Durban Ladies 5-0 in the reverse-tie, which marked their first ever home game in the Hollywoodbets Super League in style.
Nompumelelo Nyandeni took her league tally to 16 goals, two behind Andisiwe Mgcoyi (Mamelodi Sundowns) and four goals behind Nthabiseng Majiya (Richmond United) with a perfect hat-trick against Golden Ladies, scoring a header to add to her left-footed and right-footed goals.
After shredding UJ Ladies to pieces, JVW FC head coach Ciara Picco said, “Wednesday’s match in Durban, against Durban Ladies, is another big opposition for us to play against.”
“Historically a very good team so we know we have our work cut out for us, going down to Durban, after Durban it’s a quick turnaround, we’re back in Jo’burg for a training session and then down to Harrismith against Tsunami Queens.”
“Tsunami Queens, again another team not to underate, although we had a very good result against them in the first round of the league, they’re at home, can’t underate them so it’s another big, heavy week for us ahead. We’ll train, we’ll look after our bodies and do our best.”
It might seem odd to back anything but a JVW FC win after reading all of the above, however, it won’t be easy to play on the pitch at the King Zwelithini Stadium, while the weather looks to dampen spirits and the playing surface which could make it difficult to play carpet football.
In these weather conditions, Durban Ladies and Richmond United served up a thrilling 3-2 spectacle that any football purist would enjoy, I’m hoping for that type of match but hoping to make some cash on the draw at 33/10.
TREBLE @ 13/2
TUT Ladies Win 1/5
UWC Ladies Win 5/10
Durban Ladies vs JVW FC – Draw 33/10
