Golden Arrows picked up a massive three points with their 3-0 demolition of SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Lungelo Nguse opened the scoring on 33 minutes ahead of an Angelo Van Rooi goal on 54 minutes, and Ryan Moon made sure of the points with his effort three minutes from time.
The result lifted Arrows into second place on the DStv Premiership standings with 10 points from five games, and Matsatsantsa in third also with 10 points.
SuperSport were first in with a chance as Bradley Grobler headed over the target from a Kegan Johannes cross.
Lyle Lakay then fired wide on 12 minutes and forced a save from Ismail Watenga just minutes later.
Brandon Theron fired in at goal for Arrows but he couldn’t beat Ricardo Goss.
SuperSport continued to look for an opening but were guilty of missing a number of opportunities before Nguse tapped home a Nduduzo Sibiya pass inside the box.
The home side responded well and Gamphani Lungu came as close as anyone to an equaliser but it was Arrows who were next on target, after the break as Van Rooi finished a fast break with a cool finish.
Grant Margeman thought he had pulled a goal back on 63 minutes but Watenga was equal to the chance.
Both sides made a number of changes in a bid to effect the outcome of this tie but it was Arrows who were the more deadly of the two sides and after misses from SuperSport’s Shandre Campbell, Etiosa Ighodaro and Grobler, the away side killed off the tie.
Moon fired in from a difficult angle to hand his side all three points.
