Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson wants his team to treat every game like a “cup final”.
The Soweto giants are sitting in sixth place on the DStv Premiership standings after a recent run of poor results.
Draws with Sekhukhune United, Royal AM and Swallows has left Amakhosi trailing second-placed Cape Town City and SuperSport United in third by five, and league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by a whopping 16 points.
They also saw their participation in the Nedbank Cup ended by lower league opposition Milford FC.
But ahead of a visit from Golden Arrows in the league on Wednesday, Johnson said that while his team haven’t been winning games, they also have been hard to beat.
Amakhosi last lost to Orlando Pirates in November, and face their local rivals again at the weekend.
Johnson said on IOL: “We’ve got to make sure that every game that we play is a cup final. We also know that every team we play against plays as if it’s a cup final.
“We’ve got our work cut out for us, so we’ve got to make sure that we stay on top of our game for as long as we can.”
Johnson added: “We haven’t lost a game in the last six games (in the league). So, we can take a little bit of arrogance from that. But the bottom line is we need the points.”
