English Premier League Preview

Almost a third of the way there and the League is still as competitive as ever! I read an article the other day suggesting that Sheffield is effectively relegated…my dear people, if this League has shown us anything, it is to expect the unexpected!

I mean, in the 1998/99 season a certain team started out as badly as they have now and went on to achieve greatness (said with a tear rolling down my cheek) yes, I’ve resorted to astrology amongst other methods to protect my peace with Manchester United!

Anyway, let’s get into the week.

Saturday 4 November

26/10 Fulham | Draw 51/20 | Manchester United 19/20 (14:30)

Which Fulham side show up here? They haven’t always looked great going forward, but every now and again show up with a bit of class. United have become an average side, so much so that I’m not going to say anything else…

I would not be able to justify why you shouldn’t back the home win/draw double chance – so I guess you should have a crack.

1/1 Brentford | Draw 51/20 | West Ham 24/10 (17:00)

Brentford were beginning to look as though they were caught in a rut – but their favourite opposition offered them a much-needed lifeline last weekend. Brentford were the better side and looked really dangerous on the counter – I expect them to repeat that feat against a West Ham side who look as though they have had the stuffing hit out of them.

1/10 Manchester City | Draw 15/2 | Bournemouth 18/1 (17:00)

I’ve been quite critical of Andoni Iraola and what he has brought to the table at Bournemouth. They got a good win last time out but have no chance against this City side.

They (City) are due to give someone a hiding and this might be where they return to the uncompromising outfit, we know they can be. Back the hosts to win + over 3.5 goals.

26/10 Sheffield United | Draw 51/20 | Wolves 19/20 (17:00)

Wolves will like the look of this game…they are now five games without loss and surely their confidence continues to steadily build. Sheffield is yet to do anything of substance and so I guess the away team to win becomes a minor banker!

17/10 Burnley | Draw 43/20 | C Palace 16/10 (17:00)

Burnley are frustrating to watch at times, you watch them at times and think they can be really competitive…but it’s usually shortly after that when they just seem to disintegrate.

I think Palace are at their best when they have a go at teams, they couldn’t do that to Spurs but they can surely take the game to Burnley. If it opens up (and I think it will) it favors the visitors. Back them.

2/1 Everton | Draw 51/20 | Brighton 12/10 (17:00)

Those three points away at West Ham would have been massive for Everton, they obviously rely quite heavily on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and I agree with the many pundits suggesting that their season depends on him.

Brighton was disappointing, but I think they reply in emphatic fashion here. Everton will look to make the game as tight and as slow as possible – but I think the creativity and aggressiveness upfront for the Seagulls overshadows their sticky hosts.

7/4 Newcastle | Draw 47/20 | Arsenal 29/20 (19:30)

What a game of football this should be…my only concern is on the team available to Eddie Howe. The Magpies are currently navigating a few injuries and the absence of Sandro Tonali doesn’t really help anyone.

Arsenal’s main concern would only be their schedule, in relation to the squad they have available. For what’s it worth, I’m not sure why Daid Raya is being favored to Aaron Ramsdale – but I doubt that does anything to this result.

Back the Arsenal.

Sunday 5 November

3/1 Nottm Forest | Draw 26/10 | Aston Villa 17/20 (16:00)

I think this could be quite a tricky game to call. I know Forest were battered at Anfield, but their form has dramatically improved, and they have players who know how to turn a game on its head.

Villa is on fire, Ollie Watkins continues to do the Lord’s work and although he doesn’t get as much attention, Moussa Diaby has proved his weight in gold when linking up with the Villa front men.

I don’t think there are as many goals here, but I think the visitors edge it.

17/2 Luton Town | Draw 52/10 | Liverpool 1/4 (18:30)

Luton have proved they are happy to fight for their place in this League, and there is no doubt that these are the sorts of games those fans would have been frothing for the most when their side won promotion!

However, this is Liverpool, and this won’t be an easy task. Liverpool’s danger men are starting to peak, and you’ve got to think they will run riot here.

I think there might be money insofar as I don’t think the Red’s will keep a clean sheet, but they certainly win.

Monday 6 November

11/10 Tottenham | Draw 51/20 | Chelsea 43/20 (22:00)
