Marumo Gallants FC coach Dan Malesela is researching Kaizer Chiefs’ new mentor Nasreddine Nabi in preparation for their Betway Premiership opener.
The two teams are set to clash on Saturday, September 14, at the Toyota Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, marking the return of Gallants to top-flight football.
Speaking at the Betway Premiership launch at the Galleria, Malesela was focused on preparing his team rather than fixating on Chiefs’ plans.
He described the fixture as a great opportunity, saying, “It’s a blessing in disguise that we’re playing Kaizer Chiefs first. “
“Every supporter will want to be at the stadium.”
Malesela hoped for a victory, adding, “I think it’s a beautiful launch of our team that we play Kaizer Chiefs, and I hope that we win on the day so that Bloemfontein can just buzz on the weekend.”
When asked about his research on Chiefs, Malesela playfully remarked, “For Kaizer Chiefs? I know, I’ve seen (laughs). No, I’m kidding.”
He clarified, “We did look at how teams coached by Nabi performed previously. But with new personnel, you can’t rely too much on past tactics.
“The game can change on the day, so we’ll focus on executing our game plan and adapting as needed.”
