The Wasps pulled off a come from behind victory, courtesy of goals from Ange Mutsinzi and Innocent Nshuti, but the result proved insufficient as their earlier loss to Libya proved costly.
Torsten Spittler’s men finished on eight points in Group D, level with Benin, however, they fell short of securing a place in the tournament due to Benin’s superior head-to-head record. Benin had defeated Rwanda 3-0 at home, while Rwanda managed a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture.
The severity of Ntwari’s injury remains unknown. However, with Chiefs’ next match scheduled for November 27th against Richards Bay, there’s hope he may recover in time.
