The 29-year-old South Africa international, who was most recently on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns where he didn’t play a game, joined Siwelewele on trial in February.

But with the outbreak of the Corona Virus and subsequent lock down in the country, announced by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday night, Rantie and his potential new club will need to exercise patience.

Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco though is hopeful of doing a deal with the former Malmo, Bournemouth and Cape Town City striker.

He told KickOff: “We designed a programme where he trains at the High Performance Centre in the morning before joining the club for afternoon sessions.

“He is still very much part of the plan [to assess him]. I don’t think the break will affect our intention to give him a chance.

“Remember, he last played football a long time ago and we will have patience with him.”
