Cedric Kaze: Kaizer Chiefs boosted by Home of Legends Cup success

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze was delighted to guide his side to success in the inaugural Home of Legends Cup on Saturday.

Amakhosi overcame Mamelodi Sundowns 5-4 on penalties after the game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium had ended goalless.

Kaze was in charge of the side alongside Khalil Ben Youssef as Nasreddine Nabi recovered at home after surgery.

Chiefs had beaten Golden Arrows 2-0 in their semi-final while Sundowns beat Chippa United on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

While Sundowns fielded a much-changed side due to a number of players being away on international duty, Chiefs also gave their fringe players a run out.

Kaze said on FARPost: “It was a good game to have everyone get some minutes in their legs.

“Even those who haven’t had an opportunity to play a lot of games. But as well it was a very good day for us because we finished the day crowned with the trophy.

“It might not mean a lot because it’s a one-day tournament. But we believe that it’s going to give us the boost we needed going forward into the league games.”

Next up for Chiefs is a home clash with Richards Bay in the Betway Premiership on 27 November.
