FC Barcelona continues its commitment to nurturing young talent by officially announcing that teenage sensation Marc Bernal has signed a new contract.
“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with player Marc Bernal to adjust his contract, which will bind him to the Club until June 30, 2026, when he will finish his youth stage,” the club stated.
The 17-year-old Catalan midfielder, who is highly regarded as one of the top prospects from La Masia, initially renewed his contract when he joined the youth team. Following a promising first season with Barça Atletic, he has now secured a contract extension. Bernal is currently participating in preseason training with the first team under the guidance of Hansi Flick.
Last season, although primarily part of the Juvenil A squad, Bernal logged significant minutes with Barça Atletic, impressing under the management of Rafa Marquez. This performance solidified his reputation as a future pivot midfielder for the first team.
The new contract, signed last year when Bernal turned 16, extends his commitment to the club until 2026. The latest agreement, which had been in place for some time, improves the terms of his contract without altering its duration. This updated deal reflects his progress and contributions during his time with the reserve team.
Currently involved in first-team preseason activities, Bernal is expected to travel to the USA for upcoming friendly matches, further showcasing his potential and readiness to make an impact at the senior level.
