Hugo Broos set to make changes for South Sudan clash

Hugo Broos Calls for Enhanced Bafana Bafana Security

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos admits he could make changes for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with South Sudan on Tuesday.

South Africa were held to a 2-2 draw with Uganda in their opening qualifier on Friday.

Lyle Foster had opened the scoring on 14 minutes at the Orlando Stadium but were pegged back when Denis Omedi levelled with 51 minutes on the clock.

Uganda took a 53rd minute lead through Rogers Mato but Thalente Mbatha secured a point for his side deep into injury time at the end of the encounter.

Bafana goalkeeper Veli Mothwa was criticised for his involvement in the second goal conceded and might make way for one of Ricardo Goss of Sipho Chaine.

“It’s not a nice thing for a goalkeeper when he makes such a mistake,” said Broos.

“Okay, it’s 1-1 but as a keeper you know what you’ve done. We could have lost the game with that.

“He’s really down for the moment, but we will see in the next days. If you feel he’s not ready to play the game on Tuesday [against South Sudan].

“Then you can’t put him because the risk is there that he makes the mistake again.”

Broos added: “We will try to find a solution next Tuesday, and certainly not starting to doubt this one or that one.

“But you can be sure there will be changes in the team that’s for sure.”
