TRANSFER NEWS: SANELE BARNS PROMISES TO ADD TO STELLENBOSCH FC’S SUCCESS

Sanele Barns says he’s ready to take the next step in his career after swapping Richards Bay for Stellenbosch.

The 27-year-old was one of a few shining lights in an otherwise disappointing season for the Natal Rich Boyz.

He contributed with six goals and seven assists in 35 matches in all competitions, including one in the play-offs as the club survived relegation from the DStv Premiership.

Now as he gets ready to join a Stellies side that narrowly missed out on second place before ending in third last season, Barns admits he will bring his form to his new club.

The former TS Galaxy and University of Pretoria attacker said in the Sowetan: “I can promise Stellenbosch that I’ll continue to be consistent.

“They say to be the best, you must beat the best, so I think I will compete there and earn myself a spot in the starting XI.

“I am really looking forward to competing with the gents there because that will also improve me as a player.

“I am more than ready to go there and compete. Stellenbosch have been a very good team in recent times, so this is a big step in my career. We will also be playing continental football, so I am really looking forward to the next chapter of my career.”
