UEFA Champions League Fixtures: Matchday 4 Preview (Tuesday Edition)

The most delightful addition to our midweek plans is back for another round of captivating and gripping intrigue. The games don’t get dull, and the stakes only continue to rise (oh and we’ll do it all again on Wednesday) so let’s go!

16/10 Dortmund | Draw 5/2 | Newcastle 15/10 (19:45)

It’s a really close game to call, so much so I think the goal market might be the only real environment it’s worth having a crack in. Dortmund is quite inconsistent in their domestic League and will hope that doesn’t start to infiltrate what they are trying to achieve in this group…

The German side don’t score freely, and Newcastle seem to be inclined to keep a clean sheet of late, so I would go under 2.5 goals here.

8/1 Shakhtar Donetsk | Draw 5/1 | Barcelona 1/4 (19:45)

I don’t think anything changes here, Barcelona has started to dominate and look so comfortable of late. I don’t think the hosts have the quality to upset a confident Barcelona – they have won four of their last seven without even conceding and so Barcelona to win on the -2 handicap seems a banker.

15/10 Lazio | Draw 5/2 | Feyenoord 33/20 (22:00)

This is another game where we can expect goals. Feyenoord may be really exciting going forward but they cannot keep a clean sheet for jam, and I suppose given Lazio haven’t been able to keep a clean sheet all tournament – both teams scoring look to be the right one here.

7/20 Porto | Draw 4/1 | Antwerp 7/1 (22:00)

Talking about teams scoring for jam – Porto have scored a massive seven goals during the Champions League. The last time these two met the hosts ran away with it winning 4-1, I don’t see that result changing here. Back the home win.

1/14 Manchester City | Draw 9/1 | Young Boys 25/1 (22:00)

I reckon City will rotate their squad here for sure, but what about this for an interesting approach; City have won all three of their games with a 3-1 margin. Young Boys have lost twice by 3-1 – you up for a 3-1 City win correct score punt? Same, let’s get it!

2/1 Milan | Draw 51/20 | PSG 12/10 (22:00)

I thought Milan would have stayed closer to PSG in the reverse fixture, but they simply couldn’t. the Italian side are now without a win in four games, but more concerning is their inability to score.

I think PSG win this though.

3/10 Atletico | Draw 44/10 | Celtic 15/2 (22:00)

I suspect Atletico will be wanting to return to winning ways when they welcome Celtic to the Spanish capital on Tuesday evening. Last time out the hosts lost to Las Palmas which might have come as a surprise but is completely in line with their performances in Europe.

Atleti have not been the rock-solid defensive outfit they have shown in recent history and given Celtic’s rock and roll approach I think the win/draw double chance on the visitors might be the shrewd one for the week.

42/10 Crvena Zvezda | Draw 34/10 | RB Leipzig 11/20 (22:00)

You wouldn’t say this looking at the odds available on the home win, but Crvena Zvevda are without a loss in 25 home matches across all competitions! It’s a really tense and aggressive environment to play.

Leipzig are not playing with a tremendous amount of confidence, and I think the home win could be the one.
