Former Premier Soccer League striker Lungisani Ndlela believes Mamelodi Sundowns will provide this season’s Premiership top scorer, backing Brayan León and Cassius Mailula to be the stars who challenge for the golden boot.
Ndlela expects either forward to reach 20 league goals, a feat not achieved since Peter Shalulile scored 23 in the 2021-22 campaign.
“León is a scoring machine, so he’s my obvious pick to win the award,” Ndlela told Soccer Laduma.
León has already scored three goals this season, while AmaZulu’s Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya leads the scoring charts with five. TS Galaxy’s Victor Letsoalo has four, with Stellenbosch’s Quwan Plaatjies and Richards Bay’s Nqaba Xulu also on three.

Ndlela believes Sundowns’ attacking strength makes their forwards natural contenders.
“For me, León and Cassius Mailula. It’d be between those two. Sundowns scores lots of goals, which tells you what to expect in terms of who would be up there,” he told Soccer Laduma.
“León is more than capable of achieving that. He knows where the goalposts are that guy. It’s possible for León and Mailula to get there. They must just remain focused.”
