SuperSport United midfielder Teboho Mokoena insists his side “can score and beat Sundowns” when they face the unbeaten league leaders in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday evening.
Masandawana have made an impressive start to their title defence, recording eight wins and two draws without conceding a single goal in their first ten fixtures of the campaign.
SuperSport, meanwhile, find themselves sitting in fourth place ahead of Wednesday’s encounter, trailing the league leaders by eight points after a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Marumo Gallants at the weekend.
But, while results have been inconsistent for the Tshwane outfit, one of the areas where they have excelled is in the goalscoring department.
Speaking to The Sowetan, the 24-year-old Bafana Bafana international is adamant his side has what it takes to end Sundowns’ unbeaten run.
“Yes, it’s possible. We can score and beat Sundowns,” said Mokoena.
“They are a strong team. If we apply ourselves correctly and do the right things, we can achieve our goal. We have to stay focused the entire game.”
Mokoena added: “It’s like any other game for me. I want to do better than last season.
“The aim is to get the three points. If I score it will be a bonus. The aim is to win the match.”
