Tebogo Potsane eyes Kaizer Chiefs comeback following long-term injury

Kaizer Chiefs forward Tebogo Potsane is eager to return to the pitch after being sidelined for eight months due to injury.

The 31-year-old missed out on pre-season training and hasn’t yet had the chance to show his skills under the new coach, Nasreddine Nabi. Chiefs have had difficulty finishing games off in recent matches, and Potsane’s goal-scoring prowess might be just what they need.

“I’m really happy that the injury is behind me and I can now focus on playing,” Potsane shared with the club’s media. He expressed gratitude for the support from his family, the medical team, his teammates, and the technical staff during his recovery.

Potsane is optimistic about his return: “I’m really thrilled to be back in the team and looking forward to getting more game time. I want to contribute to helping the team do well this season. As an attacking player, my job is to create goal-scoring opportunities, assist or score, and that’s what I’ve been working on.

“The supporters have been fantastic, and I urge them to continue backing us as we work hard on the pitch.”

Kaizer Chiefs face TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Monday at 15h30. Currently sitting ninth in the Betway Premiership, a victory could propel them to sixth place, while a loss would push them closer to the relegation zone.

There is a possibility that Potsane would feature in this crucial match, aiming for Chiefs’ fourth win of the season.

“We have put the previous game behind us and our focus is on the next assignment against TS Galaxy on Monday. The game is important for us, and we need to work hard to ensure that we come back from Nelspruit with three points.

“We know the team and we’ve studied their games. We have to apply ourselves and ensure we apply ourselves,” Potsane stated, underlining the team’s determination.
