SuperSport United anticipating Abubeker Nasir and Samir Nurkovic’s debuts

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt is eagerly anticipating the availability of new signings Samir Nurkovic and Abubeker Nasir as they work on their fitness.

Neither player has made an appearance for SuperSport yet, as they continue to build their match fitness.

Nasir, a 23-year-old forward, joined the club from Mamelodi Sundowns on a one-year deal in August, but only started training recently.

Hunt is optimistic about Nasir’s potential impact, noting, “Nasir started training for the first time this week since arriving. You can see his quality, he has pace, which we need. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t feature him against Richards Bay last Friday, but we can’t rush him.”

Samir Nurkovic, another key addition, is expected to join the squad in January and bring a significant boost. Hunt added, “Nurkovic will make a big difference when he arrives. His experience and goal-scoring ability will be a valuable addition.”

The Serbian striker, who last played competitively on December 13 last year for Sundowns against Cape Town Spurs, will provide much-needed depth and offensive firepower.

After a narrow 1-0 victory over Richards Bay in the Betway Premiership at King Zwelithini Stadium, Hunt is focusing on building consistency within the squad.

“We’ve been chopping and changing a lot,” he said. “Our goal now is to build on this win and gain some momentum with consecutive victories.”

SuperSport United will host Magesi FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, and Hunt is optimistic about securing another three points as they aim to stabilize their form.
