The latest round of 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers produced several eye-catching results, with Egypt recording a commanding victory while Nigeria and Ghana suffered disappointing defeats.
Algeria were forced to fight back from two goals down as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Burundi. An own goal from Fares Chaibi gave Burundi the lead before Jean Girumugisha doubled their advantage. Algeria responded through Mohamed Belloumi and Adil Boulbina to rescue a point.
Senegal continued their strong qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ethiopia. Ibrahim Mbaye scored the only goal of the match early on as the Lions of Teranga secured another three points.
Morocco also maintained their winning start after beating Lesotho 2-0. Brahim Díaz broke the deadlock shortly before half-time, while Azzedine Ounahi added a second in the 82nd minute to seal the result.

Egypt produced one of the biggest wins of the round, cruising to a 5-0 victory over South Sudan in Juba. Ibrahim Adel scored twice, while Mostafa Mohamed, Omar Marmoush and Mahmoud Trezeguet were also on the scoresheet.
Gambia came from behind to claim a memorable 4-2 victory over Ghana. Thomas Partey and Antoine Semenyo put Ghana on the scoresheet, but Ebrima Colley struck twice as Omar Colley also found the net to complete the comeback.
Nigeria endured a difficult night away from home as Guinea-Bissau secured a convincing 3-0 victory. Zinho Gano scored twice before Franculino Dju added a third to hand the Super Eagles a heavy defeat.
Congo and Cameroon shared the points following a 1-1 draw. Bryan Mbeumo gave Cameroon the lead in the first half, but Silvère Ganvoula equalised to ensure the spoils were shared.
Defending champions Ivory Coast also got the job done, beating Somalia 2-0. Amad Diallo and Vakoun Issouf Bayo both scored in the first half as the Elephants collected all three points.
