SuperSport United midfielder, Grant Margeman, remains optimistic that the team can escape the relegation zone, emphasizing the importance of hard work and determination.
Despite facing a challenging season in the Betway Premiership, Margeman believes the players have the ability to turn things around.
The Pretoria-based club has been struggling in the current campaign, with a series of disappointing results that led to the departure of head coach Gavin Hunt. Currently, SuperSport United finds itself in a precarious 15th place on the league table, having accumulated just 21 points from 21 matches.
Margeman, however, is resolute in his belief that the team can lift itself out of the relegation battle. “I know the guys are more than capable of lifting the team from where we are at the moment. It’s about working hard, staying positive, and putting in the effort,” Margeman told The Sowetan.
“As players, we know the quality we possess and what we are capable of achieving. It’s up to us to stay united and give our best in the upcoming matches.”
Despite his belief in the team’s potential, Margeman has been sidelined with a long-term injury after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) at the beginning of the season.
“The injury is improving. I have been doing fieldwork, a lot of rehab, gym sessions, and working with the physio.
“It’s progressing well, though it’s frustrating not being able to play. However, rehab has been going smoothly, and I just need to continue working hard to make a full recovery and return to action soon.”
With the season still ongoing, SuperSport United’s survival hopes rest on their collective effort to regain form and consistency in their remaining fixtures.
SuperSport are in action this weekend at the Peter Mokaba Stadium against Cape Town City. Kick off is set for 17h45 on Sunday, 30 March 2025.
