Relebohile Mofokeng is reportedly attracting interest from several leading European clubs after making an impressive start to life in Belgium and continuing to shine for Bafana Bafana.

According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Chelsea, Brighton, Atlético Madrid and Napoli are among the clubs monitoring the 21-year-old former Orlando Pirates player.

Mofokeng has quickly established himself at Union St Gilloise since moving to the Belgian club, while his performances for South Africa have further raised his profile.

He scored twice in Wednesday’s 5-0 victory over Eritrea in 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, producing two composed finishes as Bafana strengthened their position.

Mofokeng has also scored three goals and provided one assist for Union, including on his Europa League debut against Viktoria Plzen.

A move to Brighton could potentially be easier to negotiate than a switch to Chelsea. Brighton owner Tony Bloom is also a minority shareholder in Union, creating an existing link between the two clubs.

Brighton have previously recruited South African forward Percy Tau, signing him before immediately sending him on loan to Union.

For now, Mofokeng’s priority will be maintaining the form that has made him one of South Africa’s most closely watched young players. With interest reportedly growing across Europe, his next move could represent another significant step in an increasingly promising career.
