The Buccaneers revealed the limited-edition strip on Saturday evening, adding to their black and gold home jersey and predominantly white away kit for the current campaign.
The launch comes after Pirates secured their place in the CAF Champions League group stages, with the new design paying tribute to the generations of supporters and communities that have shaped the club’s identity since its founding in 1937.
The Soweto giants will return to action on Tuesday when they face TS Galaxy in the last-32 round of the Carling Knockout at Orlando Amstel Arena.
According to a statement released by the club and adidas, the jersey draws inspiration from the landscape and character of Orlando, the historic Soweto neighbourhood the Buccaneers call home.
“The jersey’s all-over graphic is inspired by the distinctive shapes of Soweto, creating a visual representation of the neighbourhood that has been at the heart of Orlando Pirates since the Club was founded in 1937,” the statement read.
“Scattered rooftops form the foundation of the design, symbolising the homes, families and communities that have shaped generations of Buccaneers.”
The jersey features a dark base complemented by maroon, light purple, dusky orange and red accents. Adidas’ signature three stripes and branding are incorporated into the design, while the club’s iconic skull and crossbones crest takes centre stage.
The kit also features an EQT-inspired collar and a customised back-neck detail, adding to its distinctive appearance.
Pirates and adidas said the design represents more than a football shirt, highlighting the enduring relationship between the club and the community that has supported it across generations.
“More than a third jersey, the design reflects the connection between a football club and the place it calls home, a connection built over generations and carried forward by the Buccaneers who wear, support and live the colours of Orlando Pirates,” the statement added.
The 2026/27 third kit was showcased at South Africa Fashion Week on 24 October as part of a dedicated fashion presentation.
However, the club has yet to announce when the new jersey will make its on-field debut, with further details expected to be revealed.
