Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkosi Lorch believes the win over Sekhukhune United is a crucial confidence builder ahead of the Soweto Derby.
Pirates broke a four-match winless streak with a 1-0 win over Sekhukhune on Tuesday evening thanks to Thabiso Monyane’s 79th-minute strike. After a solid start to the season the Buccaneers have fallen by the wayside slightly and are ninth position with just 12 points from nine matches.
Lorch missed the bginning of the season through injury but since his return has won three man-of-the-match awards in the six games he has been involved since recovering.
The Bafana Bafana international scooped the MoM award against Babina Noko and speaking in the aftermath highlighted the importance of the win ahead of the Soweto Derby with Chiefs on Saturday.
“Another tough game against tough opponents. I think tomorrow we are off, we need to recover and we will see,” said Lorch on SuperSport TV.
“We have to plan for them like we always do with other games. We are going there to win.
“Every game that we play we want three points. So, we are going there to win.
“It was very important to get maximum points because we have not been doing well. Four games without getting the results.
“So, it will obviously give us a boost going into another game on Saturday [against Chiefs].”
