Orlando Pirates star Mofokeng reflects on FIFA World Cup debut performance

The 21-year-old was brought on at half-time as Bafana Bafana trailed the match 1-0 and became a important focal point in the team’s attack leading up to the equalizing penalty.

Mofokeng, who did not feature in the opening match loss to co-hosts Mexico has revealed his elation about his contribution to the result.

“I have always wanted to play for the country and to give everything,” said Mofokeng after the match.

“So I will always do my best, and if my country is happy, I am also happy. I am proud of myself. We came here to compete; we are doing very well, and we want to give our all.

The youngster also mentioned the impact the support from his teammates gives him and has painted a picture of a united Bafana Bafana camp.

“It means a lot because when someone expects something from you, you get motivated to do more and give them what they want,” added Rele.

“So I think it gives me confidence, and I am doing it for them. When I came on, it was my debut, so they were happy for me. When they also come in, I will be happy for them. We must just be happy for each other and encourage each other.”
